Objectives of the Organization

1. To operate and maintain a vocational development service for adults with intellectual disabilities in the Town of Preeceville, Saskatchewan.

Mackenzie Society offers a number of programs:

  • The Mackenzie Training Centre is a vocational centre providing programming opportunities for adults who have fair motor development or who have minimal sensory limitations. Both training and production are components of the employment available at the centre. Production is such that people can further develop their work skills and social skills, enabling them to function to their full potential level of independence and possibly lead to competitive employment. The training centre also provides a life skills and social/sexuality program with skill building in the areas of self-esteem, anger management, choices, responsibility, friendships and relationships.
  • The Activity Centre is designed for individuals who have limited motor and sensory development. Programming stresses basic living skills, socialization and recreation rather than vocational skills.
  • The Life Enrichment Program is a leisure based program for adults with intellectual disabilities. It offers a stimulating and challenging program of personal and social development and recreation activities. It gives participants the opportunity to become more involved in the community.

2. To operate and maintain a residential service for adults with an intellectual disability in the Town of Preeceville, Town of Sturgis, and Town of Canora, all in Saskatchewan.

Mackenzie Society Ventures Inc. operates five residential programs providing a high quality of personal care. Programs are offered that involve enhancement of each individual's quality of life, focusing on increasing and/or maintaining skills in daily living, community integration and participation, as well as behavioural management techniques and intervention programs that address specific behavioural challenges and social issues.
